Safe drinking water in Liberia or developing nations is often not available, and people are left to drink from polluted rivers and creeks. LEM has drilled two wells on the ministry land that provide filtered, purified drinking water. The cost to have a single well placed is approximately $1,600 if the project is contracted out. LEM hopes to be able to buy its own well-drilling equipment (estimated to cost $3,500) to drill wells for surrounding villages for only the cost of supplies. This will go a long way toward reducing dysentery and other life threatening water-borne illnesses. LEM intends to work with local ministers to make the wells not only a source of purified water but a place for the purification of spirit for a village, much in the way described in John 4:13.
