Most farmers and villages in Liberia have no access to medical care. In 2013, we completed a medical clinic on the LEM main campus. This clinic is a great service to the surrounding communities and exists to dispense medications, medical treatment, and health education. Our missionary, Zach Byington, serves as the doctor for the clinic. He is also assisted by local Liberians to see as many as 20 patients per day. Every morning, as soon as the sun rises, you can see people lined up outside the clinic waiting to be treated.
Zach has delivered over 20 babies in the last year. Many of these moms would not have had an option for a safe, clean, monitored place to give birth were it not for our clinic. Zach also oversees a feeding program nursing malnourished children back to health. We have seen amazing results from this program as children have gone from near death to thriving. We praise God for providing this medical clinic to reach Liberians not just for health care, but also for prayer and telling them about Christ.
One of our dreams for the future is to have a mobile medical clinic that can be taken to villages without accessible medical care. Please pray with us for God’s provision in this area.
